OBubba ("we", "us", "our") is a baby tracking and parenting companion app built by parents, for parents. We take your privacy and your family's data seriously.
Baby tracking data: Feeds, naps, nappies, weight, milestones, activities, and notes you log. This data is stored on your device and optionally synced to our cloud backup (Firebase/Firestore) if you create an account.
Account information: If you sign up, we store your display name, email (if provided), and a family backup code. We use Firebase Authentication.
Contact email (optional, opt-in): You can choose to give us a contactable email address so we can reach you about your account and important updates (for example, a critical fix that affects your backup). This is opt-in and off by default, is separate from any recovery email, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We only use it to contact you as described, never for third-party advertising, and it is deleted when you delete your account.
Location data (optional): If you grant permission, OBubba takes one approximate reading of where you are, only while the app is open, for two things: the local weather (so it can suggest what to dress your baby in) and finding baby-friendly places near you on the map. For the weather, your position is rounded to about 1 km and sent to Open-Meteo, a weather service. For the map, it is sent to our server to look up nearby places, and map images come from OpenStreetMap. Your location is never tracked in the background and is not added to your account or your baby's records. You can say no and type the temperature yourself.
Cycle and pregnancy data (optional): If you use the cycle tracker, the period dates, symptoms, moods, notes and check-ins you log stay on your phone. They are not added to your baby's shared records, so a partner or carer cannot see them. If you track a pregnancy, details such as your due date and pregnancy week are kept with your family's records so the app can work across your devices.
Health data from Apple Health or Health Connect (optional, read only): If you choose to connect, OBubba reads resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, body or wrist temperature and period dates from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). We use them only to show and predict your cycle inside the app, for example filling in your temperature chart from a ring or watch. This data stays on your phone. We never use it for advertising, never sell it, never send it to analytics or to Luna's AI answers, and never store it in iCloud. OBubba does not write anything to Apple Health or Health Connect. You can turn access off at any time in the Health app or in Health Connect.
Photos (optional): Photos you add (e.g. milestone photos, care guide profile picture) are stored on your device. If you generate a share card with a photo, the card image is created locally and only shared if you explicitly tap Share.
Usage analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (e.g. which features are popular). We also use Google Analytics on the public website. Analytics runs cookieless by default; we set an analytics cookie only if you choose Accept on our cookie banner, and you can Decline to keep the site completely cookieless. Advertising storage stays denied at all times. Measurements can include technical request data, the page path, store choice and approved campaign labels. No personal baby, care, contact or account data is included in analytics.
AI coach answers (optional, off by default): Our in-app coach ("Luna") can give deeper, conversational answers using Google's Gemini AI. This is off until you turn it on, and we ask your explicit permission the first time. If you enable it, the question you type plus the relevant details from your baby's logs (such as recent sleep and feed times and age) are sent to Google's Gemini AI, via Firebase AI, to generate the reply. Your name, contact details and account are never sent. See "Data Sharing" below.
We do not sell or rent your personal data or your baby's data, and we never share it for advertising or track you across other apps.
Your data is shared only in these limited cases:
Your data is stored on your device. If you create an account, your family's records are backed up to Google Firebase, encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Cycle data and anything read from Apple Health or Health Connect stay on your device only, unless you turn on cycle sharing as described above. We do not have access to your passwords or PIN.
OBubba only uses your location while the app is open, and only after you allow it. We use it for the local weather (rounded to about 1 km and sent to Open-Meteo) and for finding baby-friendly places near you on the map. We never track your location in the background, and we do not add it to your account or your baby's records. You can turn location off at any time in your device Settings and enter the temperature yourself.
OBubba's use of information received from Apple HealthKit and Health Connect is limited to providing the cycle features you see in the app. Health data is read only after you give permission, is kept on your device, and is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, never sold, never shared with third parties and never used to train AI. The cycle tracker is not a form of contraception or a medical device. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android), and deleting OBubba removes what it has stored on your device.
OBubba is designed for parents/carers to track their baby's care. We do not knowingly collect data from children. All data is entered by the parent/carer. Baby names, dates of birth, and tracking data are stored solely for the parent's use.

By default the public website is cookieless. We set one analytics cookie (Google Analytics) only if you choose Accept on our cookie banner; choose Decline and no analytics cookies are set and measurement stays cookieless. Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation are denied at all times, whichever you choose. We do not use this measurement to track you across other apps or websites, and you can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you in the app if any material changes are made.
