  3. Roll into walnut-sized balls.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes until cooked through with no pink inside.
  5. Cool and serve with mashed potato and soft green beans.

Serving it to your baby

Cut each meatball into quarters for 9 month olds, or halves once your baby is chewing well. Serve with a little apple puree to dip.

For the rest of the family

Add salt and pepper to the adult meatballs and serve with roast veg and gravy.

Storing and reheating

Cool on a rack, then keep in a covered box in the fridge for up to 2 days or open freeze on a tray before bagging, for up to 3 months. Reheat from frozen in the oven until hot right through, then cool before serving. Never reheat more than once.

Questions parents ask

Is pork ok for babies?

Yes, fresh lean pork is fine from 6 months. Processed pork like bacon, ham and sausages is salty, so keep those to small occasional amounts.

Can I use raw apple?

Yes, because it is grated and cooked inside the meatball. Raw apple chunks are a choking risk for young babies.
