Ingredients

Method

  1. Whisk the egg and milk together in a small bowl.
  2. Melt the butter in a non stick pan over a low heat and add the spinach. Stir for 1 minute until wilted.
  3. Pour in the egg and stir gently and constantly.
  4. Keep stirring for 2 to 3 minutes until the egg is softly set with no runny liquid.
  5. Tip onto a plate and cool slightly.

Serving it to your baby

At 6 months, serve soft scrambled egg on a preloaded spoon or let baby scoop up clumps with their hands. From 9 months, offer small clumps alongside toast fingers. Use a British Lion egg, or cook until completely firm if your egg is not Lion stamped.

For the rest of the family

Scramble extra eggs for adults and season their portion with salt, pepper and a little grated cheese after baby's is served.

Storing and reheating

Scrambled egg is best eaten freshly made. Leftovers can be cooled quickly and kept in the fridge for up to 1 day, then reheated once until steaming.

Questions parents ask

Can babies eat scrambled egg at 6 months?

Yes. Eggs are one of the first allergens to introduce, and scrambled egg is a great texture. Use British Lion eggs or cook until firm.

Why add spinach?

Spinach adds iron and folate and gets babies used to green flavours. Chop it very finely so there are no long stringy pieces.
