How to serve goat's yoghurt by age
6 to 9 months
Offer plain, pasteurised, full-fat goats' yoghurt on a pre-loaded spoon, or stir in mashed banana, pear or stewed apple to soften its tangy flavour. It can also be a dip for soft toast fingers or steamed vegetables.
9 to 12 months
Mix it into porridge, use it for creamy sauces stirred in at the end, or blend with grated cucumber and mint for a mild dip.
12 months and up
Keep offering goats' yoghurt with fruit, in smoothies or as part of meals. From 12 months, goats' milk can also be a main drink, as long as it is whole and pasteurised.
Choking safety
Goats' yoghurt is smooth and a low choking risk. Mash any fruit you add, and avoid stirring in whole nuts or hard granola for young children.
Gagging is common and noisy while babies learn to eat. Choking is usually silent. Always stay with your baby while they eat, sitting upright. How to help a choking baby (NHS).
