- 200g Salmon fillet (skinless and boneless)
- 450ml Cow's milk (whole milk)
- 40g Butter (unsalted)
- 2 tbsp plain flour contains wheat (gluten)

- 800g floury potatoes Potato (peeled and chopped)
- 40g Cheddar (pasteurised, grated)
- 2 tbsp Parsley (chopped)
Method
- Boil the potatoes in unsalted water until soft, then mash with half the butter and a splash of the milk.
- Poach the fish in the remaining milk for 6 minutes, then lift out, flake and check carefully for bones. Keep the milk.
- Melt the rest of the butter, stir in 2 tbsp plain flour and cook for 1 minute, then whisk in the poaching milk until you have a smooth sauce.
- Fold in the fish, peas and parsley and spoon into a dish. Top with the mash and cheese.
- Bake at 200C (180C fan) for 20 to 25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
- Scoop out baby's portion before seasoning the rest.
Serving it to your baby
At 7 months mash baby's portion together so the fish and peas are soft and lumpy, squashing any whole peas. From 9 months serve as it is in small spoonfuls, or let baby scoop with hands. Introduce fish, milk and wheat separately first.
For the rest of the family
Season adult portions at the table with salt, black pepper and a squeeze of lemon, and add prawns to the grown-up half of the dish if you like.
Storing and reheating
Cool quickly and keep in the fridge for up to 1 day, or freeze in portions for up to 2 months. Defrost in the fridge overnight, reheat until steaming hot throughout, then cool before serving. Never reheat more than once.
