Ingredients

Method

  1. Simmer the pear with a splash of water and the cinnamon for 6 to 8 minutes until very soft.
  2. Mash to a purée and cool.
  3. Mix the tahini into the yoghurt until smooth.
  4. Spoon the pear on top and swirl together.

Serving it to your baby

Use this once baby has tried sesame and dairy separately. Offer on a preloaded spoon. From 8 months, top with very finely chopped soft pear instead of purée.

For the rest of the family

Make a grown-up version with Greek yoghurt, a drizzle of date syrup and toasted seeds.

Storing and reheating

Stewed pear keeps covered in the fridge for up to 2 days or freezes for up to 3 months. Mix with yoghurt just before serving.

Questions parents ask

Can I mix two allergens together?

Yes, once each one has been introduced separately and tolerated. Mixing them in everyday meals is a good way to keep them regularly in baby's diet.

Does tahini need to be stirred?

Yes. The oil separates in the jar, so stir well before using so you get an even, smooth texture.
