How to serve semolina by age
6 to 9 months
Whisk semolina into simmering breast milk, formula, cow's milk or water and cook, stirring, until thick and smooth. Cool and serve with puréed fruit. Set semolina can be cut into soft fingers.
9 to 12 months
Offer thicker semolina pudding, savoury upma with soft vegetables, or semolina and vegetable pancakes cut into strips.
12 months and up
Serve semolina pudding, upma, couscous-style dishes or semolina bakes alongside family meals. Semolina is also used in Indian halwa, but this is usually sweetened.
Choking safety
